A 42-year-old male senior constable from North Coast Region has been issued with an Infringement Notice for an offence against Section 88(2)(d) of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (the Act) which creates an offence for a person, who is not an authorised person under the Act, to kill a protected animal.

Issues associated with this matter are also being considered as part of the Queensland Police Service disciplinary process.

A 16-year-old boy has also been dealt with for the same offence under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.

This relates to an investigation into incidents which occurred on a Booral property between 16 and 18 December 2011 where a number of animals were fatally shot.
