Police investigate suspected murder
Queensland Police are continuing the appeal for public assistance regarding the suspected murder of 30-year-old Aaron Dale Macfarlane, who died at the Mount Isa Hospital on Wednesday January 4, 2012.
Police from Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch with the assistance from the Homicide Investigation Unit, State Crime Operations Command are continuing a major investigation, codenamed Operation Kilo Field.
A white Holden Commodore that was involved in the transportation of Mr Macfarlane to the Mount Isa Base Hospital on the evening of the January 3 has been seized. The vehicle and a second crime scene identified have been subjected to forensic examination and police are awaiting the results of the analysis.
Police believe they have established the motive behind the murder and identified a person of interest who they believe can assist with their investigation.
Investigations are continuing with door knock inquiries in Mount Isa in addition to the questioning of associates of the person of interest and potential witnesses in an effort to establish the movements of Aaron Macfarlane and known associates before and immediately after his death.
Police are appealing for further public assistance and are particularly interested in speaking with anyone regarding the movements of Mr Macfarlane and his associates on the evening of Tuesday January 3.
Information from the public so far has been very useful and police are hopeful of further assistance.
